Satellite imagery shows a band of dry air in the WV channel, a likely sign of PV intrusion with mid-tropospheric trough that is moving from S France towards Switzerland. Thunderstorms have developed ahead of this band. Surface observations over the area show high values of both T and Td, particularly over S Germany, where T has climbed up to 33 deg C locally. Expect an increase in the coverage and intensity of the storms as they move N through Switzerland towards S Germany. At first, the threat of very large hail threat will be most pronounced with more isolated supercells. Later, a rapid upscale growth is likely over S Germany with threat of severe to extremely severe wind gusts.
