SYNOPSIS / DISCUSSION

South of a large high pressure system centered on Norway, a dance of low pressure cores surrounds the Iberian Peninsula: one over central France, another over the SW Mediterranean basin, affecting the area between Spain and the Balkan with mostly non-convective rain, and a new low digging into Portugal, southern Spain and northern Morocco. The latter will produce thunderstorms, mostly behind the cold front, avoiding the overlap with strong low and deep layer shear, and moving fast enough to not cause alarming rainfall amounts.
