SYNOPSIS and DISCUSSION

Strong southwesterly to westerly flow is simulated between the low geopotentials over the northern Atlantic, Scandinavia and a ridge extending over eastern Iberia and the Balearic Sea. A sharp short-wave trough is forecast to cross UK in the overnight hours, located in the exit region of a jet-streak, together with a cold front in the lower troposphere. Isolated to scattered storms will be possible over western UK in the evening to night hours.

Further storms will be possible across SW Norway, in a belt from E Poland to Ukraine and also over parts of Turkey. Neither of the areas will see a pronounced chance of severe weather, particularly given marginal CAPE values.
