DISCUSSION

An anticyclone over northeastern half of Europe and a broad upper trough over the southwestern half, with low pressure centers over the western Mediterranean Sea and a cold pool west of the Iberian Peninsula. Warm 850-700 hPa air is advected with southerly winds over Tunesia into the Mediterranean, destabilizing the region with mostly elevated CAPE, later on also BL based. A zone with strong vertical wind shear lies east of the unstable airmass, without overlap.
