SYNOPSIS

Intense ridging affects western Europe, where subsidence inversions form. A deep trough is located over eastern Europe, with cold mid-levels and weak flow across the Mediterranean. At lower levels, dry air masses dominate across Europe, with slightly better moisture across the Mediterranean.

DISCUSSION

Potential of severe thunderstorms is low. Deep moist convection is most likely from southern Turkey towards the east Mediterranean, where cold mid levels and relatively steep lapse rates overlap with maritime moist air masses. Given weak flow, slow moving storms might produce locally excessive rain. A waterspout is also not ruled out. Overall threat is marginal, though.
