SYNOPSIS

Minimal activity thanks to a large high pressure system across Europe. A cut-off low southwest of the Iberian Peninsula can stir up some thunderstorms. While there is CAPE in the models, equilibrium level temperatures in GFS do not seem low enough near Portugal/Spain coast to produce much lightning, if any. In the trough over British Isles and Norwegian Sea they are well below -30C, so convection may well be somewhat electrified, despite poor model CAPE.
