SYNOPSIS and DISCUSSION

A pronounced ridge over SW Europe faces low geopotential heights over N and E Europe. Both synoptic features are separated by a strong mid/upper jet, which runs from Ireland/UK to the Black Sea. Well displaced ingredients point to a quiet day convective-wise, excluding spotty and non-severe convection over the S Black Sea.

Isolated electrified convection is possible over offshore areas in N Europe but this activity remains too marginal for any lightning area.
