SYNOPSIS

For convection, the maps look very quiet thanks to the very extensive cold and dry air mass in place over central Europe, even when some small upper shortwave troughs are active between Italy and Scandinavia. A large upper trough shifts through the Mediterranean, and can trigger convection mainly over Algeria, and in the warm sector of an Italian low, over the Ionian Sea, mostly at night. CAPE and shear are benign so no severe phenomena are expected, although it is hard to rule out an isolated waterspout.
