SYNOPSIS and DISCUSSION

While airmass over much of the continental Europe will remain either too stable or too dry to sustain DMC, isolated to scattered thunderstorms are forecasts over two areas. The first one is the Atlantic, particularly in the latter part of the forecast period as an airmass with steep lapse rates is advected past an advancing cold front. Only marginal instability and a lack of overlap with stronger DLS preclude more organised severe weather threat. Nevertheless, severe non-convective wind gusts may accompany passage of the deep low pressure system particularly ove N Scotland and SW Norway.

Another area with thunderstorm activity will be confined to the SE Mediterranean, under the base of the trough centered over Turkey. Marginal instability precludes higher severe weather threat but eastern coastlines may experience heavy rainfall from several rounds of convection.
