SYNOPSIS and DISCUSSION

A strong W-erly flow remains in place across Europe. An embedded long-wave trough stretches from Finland towards Turkey, another one amplifies from the eastern Atlantic Ocean towards Portugal and Spain. They are separated by a broad and weak ridge.
Near the surface, a wavy frontal zone stretches from Finland across the Baltic Sea, Denmark, BeNeLux to the Bay of Biscay. A broad warm sector with subtropical air covers the Mediterranean, Alpine, and Balkans region, while temperate maritime air is present to the north of the frontal zone.
Deep moist convection is confined to the postfrontal environment west of Portugal. Weak CAPE and vertical wind shear should preclude any storm organization. Severe weather is not expected.
