SYNOPSIS

The intense low that caused widespread severe weather in central Europe has shifted to eastern Europe, with the core of the low (approx. 976 hPa) near Belarus and the cold front over southern Russia at 12Z. The cool air mass over Europe extends southward into the Balkan and Mediterranean regions. A solid high surface pressure area will remain in place over France and southern UK. Shallow convection with warm tops is likely over North Sea and the Mediterranean Sea, colder topped convection occurs from Baltic Sea to Hungary and W Romania with very isolated thunder possible, and the more significant convection will occur over the northern Black Sea, where cold air moves over relatively warm water. Strong DLS and LLS might enhance chances of isolated tornadogenesis over Crimea.
