SYNOPSIS and DISCUSSION

Stable mid-level wave crosses Fennoscandia from SW to NE. This wave pushes a gradually strengthening low-tropospheric vortex to the NE. The Baltic States see overlap of IPV tongue, moderate mid-level lapse rates and deep lift with meager moisture. We could see a temporarily better organized narrow cold frontal rainband crossing that region. Attendant cold pools may bring some of the strong gradient winds down to the surface. No thunderstorm activity is forecast.

During the overnight hours, postfrontal convection north of Scotland grows deeper as mid-levels cool, but any lightning activity remains too isolated for a lightning area.

The rest of the forecast area remains calm regarding DMC.
