SYNOPSIS and DISCUSSION

A long-wave ridge stretches from southwestern Europe across central Europe into Scandinavia. It is flanked by a long-wave trough over the Atlantic Ocean, another long-wave trough over westernmost Russia which cuts off into an upper-level low over the eastern Ukraine, and rather low geopotential in the central and eastern Mediterranean.
An occluding frontal system crosses the North Sea and Scandinavia, followed by a healthy frontal wave which travels across the British Isles (and will bring strong non-convective winds in its warm sector) ahead of the Atlantic trough. In its warm sectors, warm air advection from the southwest increases into Central Europe.
On the other hand, the eastern third of Europe is covered by cool and dry air which spreads deeply into the Mediterranean region.

Isolated thunderstorms are possible along the cold front over parts in the Denmark region (possibly elevated), in the maritime cool air behind the two frontal systems, as well as in coastal areas of Portugal and over the Ionian Sea. Due to marginal CAPE and limited vertical wind shear, severe weather is very unlikely.
