SYNOPSIS and DISCUSSION

The bipolar structure persists across Europe on Tuesday, with warm and anticyclonic conditions over the Southwestern half and an invasion of cold polar air into the Northeastern half in the wake of a powerful Russian cyclone.
In-between, a jet streak and an inactive frontal zone run from Southern Scandinavia across Poland to the Black Sea and move slowly southward.
Showers and isolated thunderstorms are possible downstream of the Baltic Sea ("lake effect" convection) and in Southern Spain. Due to limited CAPE and weak shear in both cases, severe weather is unlikely, apart from one or two waterspouts along the coast of Latvia and Lithuania.
