SYNOPSIS

An elongated trough axis in the mid levels stretches from Finland to Tunesia, while a ridge is well developed over the Atlantic as far up as Iceland, but making way for a large low pressure area. Northwesterly flow transports cool air into central Europe, followed by warmer air entering western Europe with the commencing westerly flow. The major surface low over the western/central Mediterranean Sea is weakening, but unstable airmass creates thundery conditions over the southern Mediterranean Sea, Tyrrhenean Sea and southern half of the Adriatic Sea. There is no overlap between strong low level shear and CAPE of significance, so chance of severe phenomena is low, save for an isolated waterspout. Unstable air with mostly non-thundery showers are promoted by the shortwave trough passing west of southern Norway, Denmark into Poland.
