SYNOPSIS / DISCUSSION

A long-wave trough with low geopetentials slowly moving east across the Balkans while a ridge is building from the west. A surface depression envolves over SE Europe and brings some convective activity for southern Balkans. Storm will be most likely over the still relatively warm seas of S-SE Mediterranean (Ionian sea / Aegean sea) while partly affecting onshore areas of Greece, western Turkey and parts of S Italy. However, a rather limited shear does not support more organized storms/systems and doesn't warrant a threat level 1. Still, locally some intense rain and higher accumulations seem possible over Greece, but they should remain below the severe criteria.
