A level 1 was issued for Albania and W Greece mainly for excessive convective precipitation.

SYNOPSIS / DISCUSSION

Cold air and low geopotential heights dominate in most parts of Europe. Some convection is possible ahead of a low pressure system which is centered over Italy. As instability and shear are both rather low, severe weather should be unlikely - with one exception: The onshore advection of moist and unstable air towards the S Adriatic coast may lead to a long-lasting heavy rainfall event. Accumulated precipitation sums around 100 mm / 12 h in GFS suggest a low-end level 1 for heavy precipitation in parts of Albania and Greece.
