SYNOPSIS

The map is dominated by a large blocking high pressure with its center just northwest of Ireland, and a low over southern Italy shifting eastwards. The cold air flowing into the Mediterranean has caused a large body of unstable air. The cold front moves over southern Italy into the Balkan and during the night into the Aegean area. There is enhanced SREH on the warm side but no unstable air. Also low-level shear is not predicted to be high enough for a severe weather threat. The Balkan coast could see prolonged storm activity, but water content is relatively low, so no threat for excessive rain is warranted.
