SYNOPSIS / DISCUSSION

While a nortwesterly flow across Europe slowly diminishes and moves east, a large high pressure area builds up over west-central Europe later in the forecast period. A weak short-wave trough moves across central Mediterranean towards southern Greece and Aegean sea. Accompanied with this trough, a cooling midlevels above relatively warm boudary layer will overspread these areas and result in marginal instability. Some convective activity can be expected. A few weakly electrified convective cells will likely occur as well. But given the slow moving trough in weakly sheared environment, no severe weather is expected. However, slow moving cells with weak LL wind profiles could be favorable enough for an isolated waterspout or two along the coastal areas of southern Italy and Greece.
