SYNOPSIS

A large blocking high pressure area is stationary with its center over northern France. Low pressure is found east of 20°E with a strong northern meridional flow over eastern parts of central Europe and the Balkan, advecting a cold airmass. Convective wintry showers can occur from Belarus into Romania where mid level lapse rates are steep, and may be slightly electrified over the SW Black Sea. Much more active thunderstorms occur over the eastern Mediterranean Sea.

The same blocked pattern persists during the Wednesday forecast period with minimal convective activity, followed by an increase of thunder chances on Thursday for the Tyrrhenian Sea.
