SYNOPSIS

Low geopotential is present over north Atlantic, while weak ridge is present over central Europe. A rather weak polar jet is present trom British Isles to Scandinavia. Over Mediterranean, cool/dry low-level air mass leads to stable asends. Best chances for some lightning exists over north-western Europe in the range of convectively mixed maritime air mass that is lifted at the west Scandinavian coasts. Severe convection seems to be unlikely given weak vertical wind shear in the range of the trough.
