SYNOPSIS / DISCUSSION

Downstream of a large ridge over western Europe and a trough from the eastern Ukraine to the Aegean Sea, a 75 m/s northerly jet initially stretches from the Baltic States to Greece. In the lower troposphere cold air advection takes place over the eastern Blakans, the Black Sea and later Turkey and the Aegean Sea. Within this air, scattered showers and local thunderstorms are expected over the warm sea waters. Although winds are quite strong, the weak CAPE is expected to limit the severe threat. For severe gusts with linear convective systems - including bowing segments - a level 1 is however warranted.
