SYNOPSIS / DISCUSSION

Progressive upper flow pattern will evolve into a high-amplitude pattern, with a deep upper ridge building over western Europe late in the period. Large and intense SFC low pressure complex is present over the N Atlantic and N Europe. A frontal wave at the S periphery of this system will move from southern Scandinavia into the western Ukraine on Saturday, and it seems that some potential for thunderstorms exists in its wake where deep maritime polar air will be present. However, it seems that allover lightning activity will be quite low, and a thunderstorm area is not necessary at the moment. Lightning will be most likely in upslope flow regime over the southwestern Norwegian mountains.
