SYNOPSIS / DISCUSSION

High over western Europe remains, while cold polar air mass and associated trough spread into Balkans. The cold air mass will lead to steep low-level lapse rates over the Adriatic, but given dry boundary-layer air mass and cold air advection, showers are not expected. To the south of the main frontal boundary, an air mass characterized by neutral to unstable lapse rates and rich low-level moisture leading to CAPE up to some 100s J/kg. In the range of the Mediterranean trough, showers and thunderstorms will go on during the period. Given weak vertical wind shear, organized storms are not likely. However, a few waterspouts are forecast given rather strong low-level buoyancy.
