SYNOPSIS

Monday at 06:00 UTC... a large closed low is located over Scotland. An intense shortwave trough over the Atlantic Ocean moves rapidly eastward. Its interaction with the Scottish closed low should cause a strong sharpening of the trough and subsequent initiation of a warm advection regime over western Europe on Tuesday morning. A zonal flow is present over most of the Mediterranean region. Within this flow, a shortwave trough is embedded which should be near Corsica and Sardinia. Downstream, a trough filled with unstable air stretches from Poland to Romania.
