SYNOPSIS

Intense high has formed over northern Europe, supporting an outbreak of arctic air mass into eastern Europe. To the south of this high, a well-developed frontal boundary intensifies over southern Scandinavia/Poland. Several weak upper waves travel eastward along this frontal boundary, and in the warm and moist air mass showers are expected to develop from British Isles to France, and Germany. Some thunderstorms may produce isolated thunder, but general risk seems to be low. Further south, broad low geopotential covers the Mediterranean, where showers are expected during the period, and isolated showers may produce thunder, especially in the eastern parts. Weakening vertical wind shear and instability reduces the risk for severe storms. Western Europe will be affected by a cold front of northern Atlantic low pressure system late in the peroid, and showers are forecast to form along this front. Unstable air mass in the wake of this system remains far W and is not expected to reach western Europe during the period.
