SYNOPSIS

A progressive mid/upper-flow pattern will be still in place. A sseries of baroclinic cyclones will be in various stages of their development along the polar front/jet-system. A decaying cyclone is expected SE of St. Petersburg. Another cyclone is expected near the central Norwegian west coast, while another should be developing from baroclinic wave NW of Scotland.

West-Norway...

About kilometres NW of Ålesund, a rather small but intense cyclone is expected to move NEward during the morning hours. A very strong low-level wind field will cause very strong gusts. Convective activity to the south of the cyclone centre will likely get organized into lines as a result of the strong shear. On passage of these lines, gusts up to 40 m/s are possible along the Norwegian coast. As the gusts have only partly a convectvive origin, we will stick with a threat level 1. The strong gust should start to subside after noon.
