SYNOPSIS

Monday at 06:00 UTC... a mid/upper ridge will extend from Algeria northward to the British Isles. Downstream, a longwave trough extending from northwestern Russia to the eastern Mediterranean will gradually relax during the forecast period. A shortwave trough over the western Ukraine and the eastern Balkans is expected to move southeastward over the Black Sea. Another mid/upper shortwave trough initially over the western Baltic Sea will probably move southeastward in the wake of the former system. A weak broad mid/upper trough is forecast to approach Iberia from the west.

DISCUSSION

Thunderstorms are expected across the indicated areas. However, severe convective storms appear unlikely due to a lack of strong vertical wind shear across the thunderstorm forecast areas.
