Several strong thunderstorms have developed in the warm sector of a low-pressure system tracking northward along the Latvian/Russian border. The environment of these storms is characterized by approximately 20 m/s of deep-layer shear and a high 0-1 km storm-relative helicity of 150-250 m2/s2. Combined with a low LCL height, this suggests a risk for a few potentially strong tornadoes, in particular over the western parts of the area covering Pskov oblast. Besides, some large hail, heavy rainfall and severe wind gusts are likely.
