A first storm has initiated in Northeast Italy in a very unstable air mass with 2000 - 3000 J/kg of MLCAPE courtesy of 23 C surface dew points and steep lapse rates. Deep-layer shear is 20 - 25 m/s. It appears likely that storm coverage will increase during the next few hours while the low-level shear increases and yields up to 200 m2/s2 SRH1 forming during the evening hours. As a result, all hazards are possible, including very large hail and possibly a tornado or two, that might be strong.
