SYNOPSIS

The blocking high in West Europe maintains the stable and dry conditions, while a short-wave trough is forming over the Norwegian Sea, bringing gale-force wind gusts in North Europe. Another trough is extending from Russia towards the Mediterranean, and a cut-off low is about to form over the Ionian Sea. Steep lapse rates under this cold drop, but low moisture content and weak DLS suggest that some scattered thunderstorms will form over the sea, but they will remain non-severe. In SE Greece (Dodecanese) and SW Turkey, some thunderstorms may produce excessive precipitation but over a limited area and some waterspouts may form near the coasts.
