SYNOPSIS and DISCUSSION

Much of Europe is under the domination of an extensive surface high presure system currently centered over the British Isles, slowly moving eastwards. On its forward flank, cold and continental airmass is advected with very stable and dry conditions. A surface low has formed underneath a mid and upper tropospheric trough over the Mediterranean. Isolated to scattered thunderstorms are forecast either underneath the core of the trough or in the WAA with moister airmass on the forward flank of the trough. Forecast soundings and hodographs do not reveal any pronounced severe weather threat, with an exception of a possible isolated heavy rainfall event along the coastlines.
