DISCUSSION

An amplifying ridge is stretched from central parts of the Atlantic Ocean towards Scandinavia, resulting in high pressure near the surface with very stable conditions. Just at the right sector of the jet stream, a shortwave trough over western parts of Mediterranean will provide lift to rather unstable air masses where scatter storms should form during Tuesday. Over East Europe a cut-off low with several vorticity maxima has brought very cold air masses in the Balkans and in combination with short-lived frontal systems over the warmer sea create low-topped storms, producing small hail and graupel. Some thunderstorms may form in N Turkey and E Aegean Sea where non-severe weather is expected. More to the north, over the continental parts of E Europe we expect stable conditions with locally heavy snow events.
