A level 1 was issued for Greece and NW Turkey mainly for excessive precipitation and to the lesser degree for tornadoes.

SYNOPSIS and DISCUSSION

A base of a trough over the Atlantic will split into a separate cyclonic vortex that will cross the Bay of Biscay and S France towards the Mediterranean. At the same time, a trough originally located over the Central Mediterranean will move E-wards, slowly filling up. As the base translates across Greece, scattered to widespread thunderstorms will accompany its passage. A convective system will likely have already formed in the WAA near the W-ern coastline of Greece with threats of excessive precipitation thanks to the saturated profiles and low LCLs. Threat will be somewhat diminished by a quick movement of the trough / cold front and the MCS that will likely weaken as it passes over Greece. Tornadoes are not ruled out given that DLS over 15 m/s may enable for some rotating cells and LLS will approach 10 m/s particularly along the coastlines.
