SYNOPSIS DISCUSSION

High geopotentials in SW Europe and unseasonably high temperatures are recorded in the Iberian Peninsula. On the other hand, NE Europe experiences some downpours, strong wind gusts and cold conditions due to a large cyclone with its center currently over Esthonia. This system is going to remain quasi-stationary during Tuesday, with a strong PVA on the upper levels. Some possible thunderstorms may form in the Baltic Sea and N Belarus. Another cyclone is approaching from the Atlantic ocean, with a dry slot crossing the North Sea tomorrow morning and later Denmark. The main threat will be strong/severe non-convective wind gusts, but near the coasts of Denmark and NW Germany, some storms may form able to produce strong convective wind gusts, but this threat remains low. Finally, some waves are embedded on the southern sector of the large trough in Southern and Eastern Europe, where weak lapse rates but adequate LL mixing ratios (only a few hundrends of CAPE are forecast) can lead to scattered thunderstorms, mostly over the Mediterranean Sea.
