SYNOPSIS / DISCUSSION

Several short-wave troughs develop over the European domain, one of them travels from Italy over the Ionian Sea, providing substantial lift to moist air masses. C-E Mediterranean Sea will experience some pulsating storms as weak vertical wind shear and low CAPE cannot support the development of organized storm clusters. Activity will diminish during the night.
Another short-wave trough will cross Poland and the Baltic States during the afternoon, as the approaching jet streak/upper vort-max will lead to QG forcing, but the highly sheared environment and rather low cloud top may preclude any convective phenomena. A low thunder probability was drawn over the areas with the best CAPE - wind field set up. The main threat in N Europe will be the non-convective severe wind gusts.
