SYNOPSIS and DISCUSSION:

A deep upper-level trough affects CNTRL Europe with ridging to its west and east. Numerous LL cyclones evolve along its periphery and affect parts of CNTRL and S-CNTRL Europe. Despite steep mid-level lapse rates due to cold mid-levels, meager BL moisture results in low-end SBCAPE. An heavy and orographically enhanced rain/snow event is expected over parts of Italy and the NW-Balkan States, but sporadic nature of elevated thunderstorm activity precludes the issuance of level areas. A few spots for isolated thunderstorms with gusty winds and graupel were highlighted, but nothing severe is anticipated.
