SYNOPSIS

A cold upper low is stationary over southeastern Europe. Cold airmass flows over the Aegean Sea and Ionean Sea where some CAPE allows convection with modest depth but sufficiently cold tops for some electrification (-15 deg C). Strong low-level convergence and vorticity combined with extreme low level lapse rates over the Aegean Sea could induce formation of waterspouts.
A new Atlantic low arrives to Scotland, with the associated cold front reaching the European mainland in the mid to late evening. In N/NW Scotland convection can occur during the eveing within occlusion bands under strong horizontal pressure gradients likely to produce wind gusts of 25-30 m/s.
