Storm Forecast
Valid: Sun 30 Oct 2016 06:00 to Mon 31 Oct 2016 06:00 UTC
Issued: Sat 29 Oct 2016 09:22
Forecaster: PISTOTNIK

No threat levels were issued.

SYNOPSIS

A highly amplified long-wave trough over W Russia and a strong long-wave ridge over Iberia and France divide Europe into a cold eastern and a mild western half. In-between, a strong mid-level jet curves from Norway towards the Black Sea.
Air masses will be too dry to allow deep convection almost anywhere. Both the activity in the polar air over NE Europe and in the vicinity of a stray warm-core cyclone over the S Ionian Sea will decrease in this forecast period.

DISCUSSION

... S Ionian Sea ...

Disorganized clusters with regional very heavy rainfalls will still go on around the center of the warm-core cyclone, but will stay well offshore. With the gradual easening of the surface-wind fields, waterspouts become a little more likely in the cyclone's center.
The threat of strong to severe non-convective winds and precipitation over Sicily and Malta comes to an end.
