SYNOPSIS and DISCUSSION

A flat ridge, framed by numerous troughs, covers most parts of CNTRL Europe. Meager BL moisture/weak mid-level lapse rates preclude thunderstorm probabilities with one exception: SW-UK could see an increase of thunderstorm probabilities during the end of the forecast, as the 500 hPa temperature drops to -30 °C. An enhanced vertical temperature gradient assists in marginal SBCAPE build-up. Gusty winds and sleet are forecast.
