SYNOPSIS and DISCUSSION

Active weather pattern continues over NW Europe with deep low pressure systems residing over the Atlantic. However, lack of steep lapse rates in the prevailing southwesterly flow over the region will not suppport development of DMC along the numerous frontal zones. Most of continental Europe will be under very stable conditions owing to the high pressure system. The only region where isolated, low-topped convection can form will be parts of the Ionian sea and the extreme SE Mediterranean as cold airmass at mid troposphere overspreads still relatively warm sea.
