SYNOPSIS

An occluding low pressure system over Iceland moves slowly towards Scandinavia. In the vicinity of its upper cold core, some showers and thunderstorms are possible. Even though cyclogenesis is expected over the Baltic Sea during Monday morning, warm air at upper levels and almost front-parallel background flow will preclude any convective activity in zones of intense vertical shear due to a lack of instability. Southern Scandinavia will likely get some briefly electrified storms. Due to the intense background flow, isolated severe wind gusts are possible but their appearance should be independent from the presence of convection.
