SYNOPSIS

A large scale upper trough with cold mid level air moves eastward through eastern Europe and Turkey. Steep lapse rates allow parcels to reach -20 to -40°C levels which supports graupel growth and electrification. A new low pressure system arrives from the Atlantic to Norway early Monday morning with new cold airmass thundershowers. High pressure building over France and Mediterranean is keeping depressions away from western and central Europe, although sharp pressure gradients cause quite strong winds over a large area.
