A level 1 was issued for Northern Aegeans mainly for excessive precipitaiton.

SYNOPSIS and DISCUSSION

A deep trough will continue to dig SEwards, its center morphing into a cut-off and translating from Germany towards the Ionian Sea. At the same time, strong cold front will push across the central Mediterranean. Due to the poor lapse rates and upper level forcing beggining to lag behind the surface cold front, severe weather activity will diminish compared to the previous day.

As the surface pressure falls over the Ionian Sea and Balkans, low level jet will ramp up over the Aegeans, transporting moisture northwards. Combined with the forcing from the approaching trough, instability will increase over the sea. Northern coastal areas may see numerous rounds of DMC in the overnight / early Thursday morning hours with the threat of excessive precipitation that will likely continue into the next forecast period.
