SYNOPSIS and DISCUSSION

Hardly any change is taking place compared to the previous forecast period. An extensive quasi-barotropic upper-level low remains in place over Central Europe and stretches its circle of influence across most of the continent. Unseasonably cold mid-levels and resulting fairly steep lapse rates extend well into the Mediterranean region, where they result in limited instability release and scattered thunderstorms over the sea surface. An isolated waterspout can't be ruled out over the Ionian and Southern Adriatic Sea in case a cyclonic wind field and better low-level CAPE release coincide, and a marginal rain risk exists along the Western coasts of Greece and Turkey with onshore flow and slightly better boundary layer moisture. All in all, severe weather threat is very slim, though.
Saturday night, a new Atlantic low and its occluding frontal system will finally start to bring some fresh wind over the British Isles. Postfrontal convection with isolated lightning may enter the Bay of Biscay until Sunday morning.
