SYNOPSIS

A flat upper trough is placed over most parts of Europe with a more active/progressive pattern over N-Europe. Weak ridging builds in from the west and suppresses convective activity over W-Europe.

Weak gradient flow and modest moisture are present, so pulsating storms/multicells will be the prevailing storm mode. Daytime driven thunderstorms are forecast with marginal hail and strong wind gusts. An isolated severe event is possible, where somewhat more robust CAPE is available (mainly in the 50-% thunderstorm areas). The activity diminishes after sunset with ongoing thunderstorms mainly offshore over the central/eastern Mediterranean.
