SYNOPSIS

Shallow low sea level pressure is situated over the central Mediterranean area, Aegean Sea and Turkey, while high pressure dominates most of northern, western and southwestern Europe with the center over southern UK and Benelux. In the Mediterranean area, very slight CAPE values are present along with weak flow and shear, so the main convective mode will be isolated weak single cells with topographic triggers, although large scale lifting features are present as well, notably around the mid/upper trough over the Aegean Sea, and a cold front wrapping around the Alps and associated mid level vorticity advection. A significant PV anomaly will enter northern Italy and Corsica region during the evening and night, which can induce thunderstorms over sea.
