SYNOPSIS / DISCUSSION

Between an upper high over the eastern North Atlantic and another upper high over Russia, a zone with low geopotential heights is present over the central and eastern / southeastern parts of Europe. In the vicinity of this upper low pressure system, marginal instability is present over the eastern Mediterranean. Deep layer shear is rather weak and therefore severe weather should be unlikely.

Another region with marginal CAPE is forecast over western France / Bay of Biscay and the Gulf of Lion / NW Mediterranean during the evening / night hours. As deep layer shear is only in order of 10 - 15 m/s and neither forcing nor SRH are exorbitant high, no threat level is issued.

Some showers and marginally electrified thunderstorms may also evolve over the Norwegian Sea in the vicinity of another upper trough.
