SYNOPSIS

Between high pressure over southern Europe and a depression between Scotland and Iceland, a strong WSW-ly flow transports relatively warm air and frontal precipitation to the British Islands. Cold air resides over Scandinavia and Eastern Europe (Baltics, Russia). A shortwave trough and weak surface low cross the Aegean Sea at the east side of the high Sunday morning. Near both lows, MLCAPE is very low but tops could reach -30°C for a sparse occurrence of lightning.
