SYNOPSIS / DISCUSSION

A broad upper trough mainly weakens on Tuesday while an upper cold core translates from Iceland towards British Isles where an attendant surface low forms during the day. A surface low over Aegean sea/SW Turkey weakens but will still give some instability in weakly sheared environment there, mostly showers and thuderstorms will occur over SE Mediterranean sea. No severe storms are again expected over Europe, though rather sporadic lightning activity may be observed over northern UK and around NW Iberia.

The main pattern now turns more into zonal flow and starting tomorrow, a warmer and more rainy period for west-central Europe will take place. With strong SW-erly flow, the winter conditions will be pushed far to the north.
